It just occurred to me.
I was walking towards campus with my headphones plugged in when Sugar Ray’s Every Morning came on. A few fine beats into the song I found myself walking with a strut and a beat (obviously, it’s impossible not to do so). I caught myself in the act soon enough to look around and check nobody around me was looking. Once I stopped, I realized, man, the weather sure is nice out tonight. I was genuinely having a great time in the comfort of an early 2000s song and agreeable weather.
This could have never been possible had the weather been cold. I would have had my fists in my jacket pocket thinking of foul words to shout at the sky and wind, probably listening to some angry Kanye West song (not that I don’t love the Ye). After the thought, I reminded myself that I am definitely a warm weather person (which is the only option having had born south of the American border). However, I thought, “happy people have to be warm weather people, right?” There is something about the cold personality that goes along with liking cold weather and being a cat person (I mean, cat people, really?)
I thus decided, I can’t trust winter people. Maybe you like winter fashion, trenchcoats and scarves are pretty cool accessories, I admit. But nothing compares to the warmth and good mood that comes along with a perfectly sunny day, a day at the beach, the pool, your porche, you catch my drift.
I truly believe that there are certain things that no people can hate like Sugar Ray’s Every Morning, a beautifully sunny day, and dogs (again, cat people, what is wrong with you?)
Without further adieu, listen to this song, it will light up your day.
